SUBSTANCE USE DISORDERS

Sympathetic Addiction and Substance-Related Disorder Treatment

Substance use disorders touch the lives of millions of people and families every day. Chances are high, if you’re reading this, you or a loved one is struggling with alcohol, prescription medication, or other chemicals. You are not alone, and seeking help is a courageous first step. Anybody can be touched by these illnesses, regardless of their background, and deserve to receive the same compassionate medical care as any other illness.

About Our Substance Use Disorder Treatment Services

Addiction does not develop overnight, and it is never a conscious decision that someone makes. It typically results from a gradual accumulation of things, maybe starting with a prescription painkiller, a stress reliever, or an experiment during tough times. Something that initially you would use every now and then can end up changing brain chemistry, with it being increasingly difficult to stop even if you know you have to.

If you’re having trouble with drug use, you may find some of these things happening: needing to take more of a drug to get the same high, feeling bad or sick when you can’t use, spending lots of time thinking about or obtaining drugs, or keeping on using even if you’re having trouble with your relationships, job, or health. You may have tried to cut back yourself but it seemed more difficult than you thought.

Here at One Stop Mental Health Clinic, we welcome you where you’re at in your life. Whether you’re just beginning to wonder if your relationship with alcohol or drugs is a problem, or whether you’ve been struggling for years, we understand that everyone’s journey is different. Some of our patients also struggle with depression, anxiety, trauma, or other mental health problems that maybe had driven them to use or that had developed as a consequence of substance use.

Your Journey to Recovery and Permanent Sobriety

Recovery varies from person to person, and there is no single path or timeframe that works for all people. The key is that you find a process that works for you and do it in steps.

Getting to Know You: Your first visit with us is all about getting to hear your story. We will talk about why you are seeking help, what you have attempted in the past, how drugs/alcohol have affected your life, and what you hope to achieve. We will also talk about any medical conditions and other concerns that you might be having, because we treat the whole person, not the addiction.

Working Out Your Plan With Us: Depending on what we discover about your situation, we will work with you to create a treatment plan that works for your life. This may be through regular counseling sessions, attending support groups, bringing in family members if you’d like, looking at medication as an option, or helping you get to other community resources. It is your plan, and we can work with you to change it as needed.

Walking the Path Forward: It’s not always easy, but with the ups and downs, we’ll be with you every step of the way. You’ll be seeing your counselor regularly, learning actual skills for working with triggers and cravings, developing a network of support among fellow recovering people, and working on rebuilding the things in your life that are most important to you. When you slip, we’ll gently help you get back on track.
